Workshops, Classes and Conferences

Training opportunities for the areas served by the members of the Pacific Library Partnership - BALIS, MOBAC, PLS, and SVLS - and handouts and resources from some past local presentations are listed on our classes page. The conferences page has links to iupcoming conferences and to programs from past conferences. For additional information, use the Google search box on the home page to search past issues of the e-newsletter, Search, and content on other pages. Also search the Califa blog.

Databases and Subscription Services
You can become an expert searcher in your library's databases and save time in preparing training materials for your patrons by going to the vendor's sites. All vendors have handouts, and some offer self-paced training and useful links you can use in teaching patrons how to use your databases at the desk, via email, or via a class.

Vendors Training Links
This page has ideas for using and learning from the vendors' material and links to where you can find it. Screencasts and program handouts for Gale's system databases are posted here.

Skills and Management
Brushing up on skills like the reference interview or handling problem patrons, learning new software, and picking up tips on supervising a group, a service or a project will help you, your library, and your patrons get more out of the databases and services your library offers. The links on this page will guide you to training opportunities.
